Build a world

Shape terrain, caves and water

Create landforms, paint color and PBR materials, and set a live water level.

Sculpt or place a landform

Under Nature → Terrain & caves, choose Place a landform for a positioned shape, or Sculpt by hand to raise, lower, smooth or flatten locally. Use Map settings → Edit terrain formations to change the original starter formations while preserving later sculpting.

Paint terrain and caves

Open Paint terrain and choose color or materials. Assign surfaces to the paint slots, choose the brush radius and strength, then paint in Scene view. Surface recipes can use your own compatible base-color and detail textures. Cave painting has its own brush with access to the shared surface library.

Use Map settings → Terrain appearance for world-wide ground, shoreline, slope and summit bands. Paint strokes give you local overrides.

Draw waterways and inspect the sea

Under Nature → Waterways, draw a lake shoreline, river or waterfall. Finish the shape, adjust its height and appearance, then click Apply water. Use Connections for supported links between sections.

For an ocean, drag Sea level to see the water surface against the existing terrain. Shoreline only reveals submerged land with a waterline guide. The draft surface is a visual preview; it does not simulate fluid flow or swimming.
